Opposition

With a Challenge Cup already secured in 2025, Denis Betts' Wigan Warriors side have eyes on more silverware as they lead the charge for the League Leaders' Shield heading into the final games of the regular Super League season.

Having invested heavily in their Academy since the Covid-impacted seasons of 2020 and 2021, Wigan are now seeing the rewards. They’ve been a dominant force across both league and cup competitions, with their Challenge Cup campaign highlighted by a commanding 42-6 victory against St Helens at Wembley, their first-ever Challenge Cup triumph and first major trophy since 2018.

That form has carried over into the league. The Warriors have won seven of their first eight games, dropping points only once in a thrilling 22-22 draw with Saints at Robin Park in round six as they currently sit one point clear at the top of the table. Standout victories over Barrow, Huddersfield, reigning champions York Valkyrie and the Rhinos have marked them as the in-form team in the competition, and now they look ahead to continuing that form as they head on the road to take on Leigh, York, Barrow and Saints before returning home to face Warrington; a match that could see the Warriors seal the League Leaders’ Shield.

In terms of individual performances, back rower Eva Hunter has been in exceptional form, scoring in every match aside from the semi-final against Leeds to rack up 18 tries. She’s been well supported by Grace Banks (16 tries), and Anna Davies and Molly Jones (14 apiece), as the Warriors continue to show their attacking strength. Meanwhile, homegrown half-backs Jenna Foubister and Izzy Rowe have been influential in steering the team around the park and will be key players to watch again this weekend.
